When we began our journey from Potters Bar into Central London. …
An incident in the early hours of Saturday morning, on route to Marylebone, put us into fear and fright.
A lorry came from behind and drove on the inner lane of the road. The driver of this vehicle was trying to overtake our car and trailer but when he was on a level he made a sudden move to turn left (inches in front of our car!) heading towards the lorry park. Due to excessive braking and turning left as well we ended up with our trailer in the lorry park. Thank God a crash was prevented! A split of the second decided about life or death, a terrible accident could have happened. Had the entrance into the lorry park not been wide enough we would have crashed into a wall. Shaken from the incident I stopped in front of the lorry, started constant honking and starred at the driver;
I called him insane. He was trying to avoid eye contact. We continued the journey to Central London.
Two miles from the destination a huge traffic jam prevented us from moving. We waited about 40 minutes before it became clear that the road won’t be reopened until at least another 30 minutes. We managed to do a u-turn and took an alternative route to the market. Eventually arrived! Hurray! Praise God!
So instead of opening our doors to the community in Marylebone sharp at 12 noon we had a delay of 60 minutes. The Marylebone Church was holding a show and people queued up in the church yard.. hundreds, thousands. It turned out a premier event was attracting many. „Sister Act‘ – the famous musical, written by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner, was on with a live Gospel Choir. So we had quite some free exposure.
The delay caused us to turn away customers (terrible when this happens!) but at the end of the day we were happy about the luck we had… no matter the affected turnout. We will be back in Marylebone this week on Saturday!
Thought about everything for the Bavarian-esque catering?
Within the meaning of Oktoberfest and Hofbräuhaus entertainment (dancing to traditional tunes etc) we are interested to streamline the coordination in terms of food and drinks….“as to what is most essential:“ Coffee and Tobacco. Because we know that coffee, tobacco and sea air alone won’t fill you up, we better ask for your opinion of the choice of stalls on a scale from 1 to 5 (while 5 means the highest importance or ‚very good‘).
We are continually looking to improve our services. Our aim is to bring the enjoyment of the culture we have been brought up with to London.
We would love to ask you a few questions on your expectations of village fetes and how we can help these festivals to be most enjoyable events.
The survey will take no more than 5 minutes of your time and at the end you can
enter our prize draw for a £10 Rainer’s Bavarian Grill voucher*. Please, when you finish, leave your email address and send a short message to news(at)gourmetexpressmobiles.com with ‚Service Testing Small Bavarian Style Village Fetes‘ in the subject line.
You have until Friday 30th of September to take the survey and enter the prize draw.
